RTH Hours

« Back to Glossary Index

RTH stands for “Regular Trading Hours,” and it refers to the standard hours during which a particular financial market is open for trading.

For example, the Regular Trading Hours for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on weekdays. Other markets, like commodities and futures, have different RTH schedules that can vary by exchange and instrument.

It’s important to note that many markets also have pre-market and after-hours trading sessions, but these usually have lower liquidity and higher volatility compared to the RTH. Knowing the RTH for the market you’re trading in is crucial for understanding liquidity, volatility, and trading strategies.
