The Nasdaq is an American stock exchange that was founded in 1971. It’s known for its technology-focused listings and is considered a symbol of the high-tech sectors of the economy. Companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google parent Alphabet are listed on the Nasdaq. Unlike the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), which has a physical trading floor, the Nasdaq operates entirely electronically through a system of computers.
