High Frequency Trading (HFT) is a type of algorithmic trading where financial instruments are bought and sold at extremely high speeds, often in fractions of a second. HFT strategies use powerful computer systems to analyze market data in real-time and execute a large number of trades at very fast speeds. The primary objectives of HFT are to capitalize on small price discrepancies and market inefficiencies, earning tiny profits on each trade but doing so many times over.
